Challenging Masterpieces: Art and Identity in American Furniture
“Challenging Masterpieces” will spotlight Winterthur’s renowned American furniture collection to explore past and present definitions of “masterpiece.” The exhibition will highlight diverse skills, design ingenuity, regional attributes, and use of rare materials to inspire appreciation for the creativity that went into this craft and instill deeper understanding of the meaning and legacy of “masterpiece” to foster more expansive views of furniture design and workmanship, past and present.
